Nordic health tech seed activity is quietly the strongest cohort in Europe.
Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki produced more seed stage health tech rounds in the first half of 2026 than any other regional cluster in the EU.

By seed round volume, the Nordic health tech cluster is now the most active in the European Union, ahead of Paris and Berlin. The gap is small but has widened for three consecutive quarters.
The composition of the cohort is distinctive. A disproportionate share of the founders are clinicians rather than career operators, and a disproportionate share of the target customers are national health systems rather than private providers. Both features flow from the region's public healthcare structure.
Whether the cohort scales beyond seed is the open question. Series A capital for European health tech remains scarce, and the transatlantic gap in growth stage funding has widened, not narrowed, over the past two years.
The founders we interviewed for this piece were realistic about the constraint. Most expect to raise their Series A in the United States, and most expect to keep their engineering teams in the Nordics.
