Evidence: Analysis
The Future Chronicle clinical AI market share tables, published quarterly for Chronicle Members, cover 28 categories across imaging, decision support, ambient documentation and revenue cycle automation. The full dataset is available to members. This note explains how the numbers are built.
Share is measured by deployed hospital sites, not by contracted revenue. Contracted revenue is the standard the industry prefers, and it is systematically misleading. Enterprise agreements at large IDNs frequently include multiple modules, only some of which are ever activated. Site level deployment is a harder number to gather, and a more honest one.
A vendor is credited with a site when the application is in routine clinical use by a defined user group, verified against at least two independent references. Pilots, evaluations and non clinical deployments are excluded.
Category boundaries are drawn to match how procurement teams actually organise their evaluations, not how vendors position themselves. Several vendors appear in multiple categories. None appear in a category they do not credibly compete in.
The full report, including per vendor breakdowns and directional commentary on the twelve month outlook, is available to Chronicle Members.
